0. INTRODUCTION

Cardmaker is an online tool for VTES card creation, which allows any vtes.net user to make cards as quickly as easily. In addition, it also allows you to save those cards in a searchable database.

1. OVERVIEW ON CARD CREATION

Creating a VTES card with Cardmaker is very easy. You just have to click either on the "Crypt" button, for a crypt card, or on the "Library" button, for a
library card. When starting a Cardmaker session, the default option is the crypt card creation.

Cardmaker is not a "smart" tool, so it is not going to sort your vampire's disciplines alphabetically, nor will it automatically place the action icon onto a library card when we select the political action card type in the "Card layout" field, and so on. All these factors are up to the user, to whom we have intended to give as much freedom as possible in the card creation process.

Some card creation fields are shared both by library and crypt cards, and are listed below:

1.1. Card name

This is a field for plain text only. Neither text formatting, nor other font sizes, nor icons are allowed.

1.2. Card text

In the text box of library and crypt cards you may use the following commands to modify text format or to insert discipline, clan or other icons.

By default, all commands have to be written in lowercase.

Card text in library cards will be centered from left to right; the same way it is in the genuine library cards by White Wolf.

Cart text in crypt cards will be centered from bottom to top, and aligned to the left; the same way as it is in the original crypt cards by White Wolf.

Cardmaker handles carriadge returns automatically, but if you wish to insert one within a text (e.g., in order to dodge a capacity circle), then type [br].

1.4. Uploading an illustration

Card illustrations can only be uploaded from your computer. In order to do so, you will have to click on the "Browse" button located on the right of the "Image" field, and select the image file on your computer. Then click on "Upload", and you will see the uploaded image on the card preview.

The recommended size for library card illustrations is 450 x 580 pixels. And the recommended siez for crypt card illustrations is 580 x 450 pixels.

The image files you upload to our server will have to maintain that proportion, since the Carmaker does not allow you to resize the image or alter its proportion.

1.5. Upload a custom-made card background (Create-A-Clan)

Card backgrounds can only be uploaded from your computer. In order to do so, you will have to click on the "Browse" button located on the right of the "Layout" field, and select an image file on your computer. Then click on the "Upload" button, and you will see the uploaded card background on the card preview.

If you want to create a new clan, creed, etc. (e.g., for a Create-A-Clan tournament), download a blank crypt card template first by clicking on the "Download a blank crypt template" link. That template is in Photoshop format and has several layers to make the image retouching process easier.

Once your new clan background is finished, you must convert it into an indexed color image and save it as a GIF image file with transparencies, so that you can upload it to the Cardmaker.
